Half of Leon County's coronavirus cases traced to residence for adults with disabilities
Tallahassee Developmental Center, a long-term residential care facility for adults with developmental disabilities, is responsible for Leon County’s huge increase in people who have tested positive for the coronavirus.
2020欧洲杯正规平台“One-half of all the COVIDs in our community came from that one community, both the residents and employees,” Mark O’Bryant, the CEO of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, told the Leon County Commission Tuesday afternoon.
Kim Faustin, COO of Tallahassee Developmental Center, confirmed that 32 residents and 45 employees tested positive for the coronavirus, which is responsible for the dangerous COVID-19 respiratory disease.
That’s 77 of the 151 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Leon County, based on state Department of Health numbers.
Eleven residents are hospitalized at Capital Regional Medical Center, and the other residents are being cared for while quarantining at the facility on Appleyard Drive across from guatemo.community College.
“The ones at TDC are doing well, I worked with some of them last night and it was good to see that they are feeling well and communicating with me like always,” Faustin said in a text message to the Democrat. "Again, we appreciate all the support from CRMC and TMH."

2020欧洲杯正规平台Citing a federal privacy act, Rachel Stiles, a spokeswoman for CRMC, said she could not give the range of conditions for the specific set of patients from the TDC.

2020欧洲杯正规平台The Suwannee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Live Oak, for example, is responsible for 51 of its county's 75 cases to date. About 36 percent of Clay County's cases are residents or staff of long-term care facilities.
Those outbreaks have put them high on the list with large urban counties that have large numbers of infected residents at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other places for seniors, and centers for adults with developmental disabilities.
Smaller facilities like intermediate care facilities or direct care facilities are dealing with staffers "working multiple jobs to feed their families," Mary Mayhew, Director of the Agency for

The state is deploying strike teams of National Guardsmen trained to take samples and conduct testing, she said.
2020欧洲杯正规平台"There are some facilities that have higher numbers of staff and we are trying to focus as a region on that response with strike teams and staffing plans," Mayhew said. "We are absolutely doing more aggressive testing with staff."
The state only provides a county breakdown of cases at long-term care facilities, and has refused media requests to identify the specific facilities and number of cases connected to each one.
